28日是美國的感恩節，在這個闔家歡聚的節日前夕，2場暴風雪來攪局，包括「炸彈氣旋」強勢侵襲美國西部，造成強風、大雨、大雪，另一場暴風雨則襲擊美國中西部、中部平原、東北部的新英格蘭地區，共32州都受到影響。暴風雪導致27日近30萬戶家庭與企業停電，而交通也因此大亂，27日導致逾700個航班取消。
炸彈氣旋侵襲美國西部
炸彈氣旋（Bomb cyclone）26日晚間開始侵襲美國西部地區，帶來傾盆大雨，預計感恩節將降下更多雨。從亞利桑那州到蒙大拿州，從西北部的蒙大拿州（Montana）到西南部的亞利桑那州（Arizona）都受到影響。

美國國家氣象局（National Weather Service）說，這是「歷史性」、「前所未有」的暴風雨，帶來強風及大雨。國家氣象局27日下午說，接下來的幾天，洛磯山脈（Rocky Mountains）以西的大部分地區都會受到影響。

西北部的俄勒岡州（Oregon）下起大雪，而國家氣象局警告，西南部的亞利桑那州將降下大雪，28日與29日清晨交通將很艱辛。此外，加州東部27日也降下大雪，國家氣象局提醒，因為交通情況危險，全加州的交通將出現嚴重延誤，多條道路將封閉。

暴風雪侵襲美國中西部、中部、東北部
另一場暴風雪近日襲擊美國中西部、中部平原、東北部的新英格蘭地區，25日下午以來，西部科羅拉多州（Colorado）東部已經積雪超過1英尺（30.48公分），這場暴風雪26日下午橫掃中部堪薩斯州（Kansas）及中西部的內布拉斯加州（Nebraska）的跋涉中組織，26日晚上侵襲中西部的玉米帶（Corn Belt）。
中西部明尼蘇達州（Minnesota）最大城市明尼亞波利斯（Minneapolis）市政府官員27日宣布該市因為大選而進入緊急狀況。國家氣象局指出當地從當天午夜以來降雪量已超過7英寸（17.78公分），是數十年來最嚴重的感恩節前夕暴風雪。
