duty, obligation 和 responsibility 都含「義務」、「責任」的意思。
duty 指「按道德、法律、社會習慣或良心應盡的本分、義務和責任」，著重「自覺」。
It is my duty to report it to the teacher.
把這事報告給老師是我的責任。
obligation 指「一個人在特定時間內必須盡的義務或責任」
Paying tax is an obligation.
納稅是一種義務。
responsibility 指「由於法律、職業或道德等方面的要求, 而應盡的責任或義務」， 著重「必須對後果負責」
You should take full responsibility for your mistake.
你應該對自己的錯誤負責任。
Live boldly. Push yourself. Don’t settle.
勇敢面對人生，突破自己，別輕言放棄。
Some mistakes… Just have greater consequences than others. But you don’t have to let the result of one mistake be the thing that defines you.有些錯誤代價高昂，但別被區區一個過失定義了自己。

I will never, ever regret the things I’ve done. Because most days, all you have are places in your memory that you can go to.
我永遠不會後悔曾做過的每件事，因為它將永存在我往後的回憶裡，歷久彌新、永不凋零。

一般遇到會讓你後悔的事情，我們都可以用 regret，後面要加動名詞 Ving，表示後悔做過某件事。若 regret 後面加上不定詞變成 regret to + Vr 是表示「我很抱歉、遺憾要……」。
I don’t regret meeting you. I regret trusting you too early, thinking you were different.
我不後悔與你相遇，我後悔的是太信任你，誤以為你與眾不同。I regret to tell you that I’ve changed my mind.
很抱歉告訴你，我已經改變心意了。
You’re going to feel uncomfortable in your new world for a bit. It always does feel strange to be knocked out of your comfort zone.
當你脫離舒適圈、面對嶄新的世界時，你會覺得不太自在。

knock out (phr.) 使完全崩壞、打昏
knock 這個字原有「敲」的意思，讓我們一起看看更多 knock 相關單字及片語吧：
knock knock 敲敲門
knock on wood 確保好運、甩掉壞運
knock off 停止做某事
另外，如果兩個字結合在一起 knockoff (n.) 就是「名牌仿冒品」的意思喔，記得不要弄錯了！
