美國總統歐巴馬24日表示，將和州政府、學區、老師及家長攜手合作，減少考試的數量，具體方案將在2016年1月出爐。但美國已有多次教改失敗的紀錄，教育部長鄧肯（Arne Duncan）又將在12月辭職，儘管歐巴馬政府的立意良善，不少老師與家長仍然擔心，這次教改又將步上先前失敗案例的後塵。

So we’re going to work with states, school districts, teachers, and parents to make sure that we’re not obsessing about testing, that the principles I just outlined are reflected in classrooms throughout the country—to make sure that our kids are enjoying learning, that our teachers are able to operate with creativity, to make sure we are preparing our kids for a lifetime of success." —President Obama

考試時間只能佔課堂時間的2%
歐巴馬在白宮發布的影片中說，考試剝奪了老師對教學和學生對學習的樂趣，令師生同樣備感壓力。未來，教育部將積極確保考試時間只佔課堂時間的2%，只進行必要的、有意義的考試，考試只是衡量學生成就的眾多方式之一，且考試的目的應是為了促進學習與教學。
