大家應該都知道 bear 當名詞時是「熊」的意思，但可能不太熟悉 bear 當動詞時的用法和意思。今天就讓我們來更進一步地學習 bear 這個字吧！
bear 表示「忍受」
bear 當動詞時，可以表示「忍受、忍耐」，通常指忍受不愉快、不舒服的事情，比如說：
I can't bear having kids in the house. They’re too noisy!（我無法忍受家裡有小孩。他們好吵啊！）
Many people can’t bear the humidity in Taipei.（許多人無法忍受台北的溼氣。）
The chicken is so bland. How can you bear to eat that?（雞肉味道好淡。你怎麼吃得下去？）
bear 表示「承擔」
bear 也可以表示「承擔、背負」，通常是指承擔某個責任、負擔等等，舉個例子：
In times of inflation, it is usually the consumers who bear the burden of higher prices.（通膨的時候，通常都是消費者承擔價格上升的負擔。）
It’s his decision. If things go wrong, he has to bear the responsibility.（這是他的決定。如果事情出錯的話，他必須承擔責任。）
Why should I bear the blame for her mistakes?（為什麼她的錯要怪我？）
bear with someone 表示「對某人有點耐心」
bear with someone 這個片語則是指「對某人有點耐心、耐心等待某人」，口語上很常會用來要對方再等等、有耐心一點喔。
Helen is under a lot of pressure. Just bear with her.（Helen 現在壓力很大。對她有耐心點吧。）
Please bear with me while I deal with the technical issues.（在我處理技術問題時，請耐心等待。）
I know it's boring, but bear with me for a little longer.（我知道這很無聊，但請再等一下下。）
