We're going to the convenient store. Do you want us to buy you anything?（我們要去便利商店。要幫你買什麼嗎？）
說完之後，Lizzy 歪頭想了一下，到底該講 convenient store 還是 convenience store 呀？哪個才對？還是兩個都對呢？
破解 NG 英文
聰明的讀者們，你猜對了嗎？沒錯，答案就是：convenience store 喔！
convenience 是名詞「便利的事物、方便」的意思。例如：
Convenience is the most important factor when choosing a place to live.（便利性是選擇居住地點最重要的因素。）
而「便利商店」的英文是一個名詞詞組：convenience store。通常指的就是 24 小時不關門的 7-11、全家這類的商店。例如：
There's a new convenience store around the corner. Let's swing by after work.（轉角開了一家新的便利商店。我們下班後順道過去晃晃吧。）
那 convenient store 其實並不是一個詞組，雖然意思上看起來沒有錯，但最正確的用法並不是如此。convenient 是形容詞「便利的、方便的」，那如果你要說某家店很便利，可以這樣表達：
There's a very convenient store that just opened near here. You can buy anything there.（這附近開了一家很方便的店。你可以在那裡買到任何東西。）
That convenient phone store has every brand of phone for sale.（那家便利的手機店有賣各種品牌的手機。）
There is a convenience store, a supermarket, and a post office near my place, which is very convenient.（我住的地方附近有一家便利商店、一間超市和一間郵局，真的非常便利。）
