英國的柯林斯字典每年都會公布年度關鍵字，而今年到底又有哪些單字雀屏中選，哪些熱門字新增到字典裡呢？跟著小編一起來學學，順便回顧一下 2020 年吧！

lockdown 封鎖、封城
今年的年度代表字為 lockdown「封城」。lockdown 原本的意思就是「因應情勢緊急封鎖某地」，像是封鎖某間學校、公寓或監獄等。來看幾個例子：
As cases of the coronavirus spiked again, Macron announced a second national lockdown in France.（隨著新冠肺炎的確診人數再度飆升，馬克宏宣布法國進入第二次的全國封城。）
The local church has been placed on lockdown by the police because of the terrorist attack that happened last night.（因為昨晚發生了恐怖攻擊事件，所以警方封鎖了當地的教堂。）

「新冠肺炎」這個字已經糾纏著大家快一年了，希望疫情趕快平息下來啊！那麼幫同學複習一下，如果要說感染疾病，我們會用 be infected with + 疾病，例如：
If you are infected with the coronavirus in the U.S., you will probably not receive any medical treatment.（如果你在美國感染新冠肺炎，你可能得不到任何的治療。）
self-isolate
isolate 為「隔離；孤立」，所以 self-isolate 為動詞「自主隔離」。舉個例子：
If you develop a cough, fever, or any other respiratory symptoms, please do not take public transit, and self-isolate for a couple of days.（假如你有咳嗽、發燒或任何呼吸道症狀，請不要搭乘大眾運輸工具，並自主隔離幾天。）
今年是不是很常聽到上述的句子呢？再補充一下，「隔離檢疫」的英文叫做 in quarantine；「防疫旅館」則叫做 quarantine hotel 唷！
